British banking organisation HSBC, a global financial service provider in conjunction with The Sandbox will soon host a variety of opportunities for virtual communities.
Initially, HSBC did not show much effort towards engaging the crypto industry until the recently announcement of collaborating with the Sandbox.
A leading decentralised gaming virtual world, The Sandbox, announced that it will be merging with HSBC, with the latter set to acquire a piece of land and virtual real estate in The Sandbox metaverse. The announcement from Animoca Brands, which is a subservient of the Sandbox, further stated that the model would be a development in engaging a connection with the sporting world, esports, and the gaming fanatics.
“The metaverse is how people will experience Web3, the next generation of the Internet – using immersive technologies like augmented reality, virtual reality, and extended reality. Through our partnership with The Sandbox, we are making our foray into the metaverse, allowing us to create innovative brand experiences for news and existing customers.” Suresh Balaji, Chief Marketing Officer, Asia-Pacific, HSBC, said.
The partnership could become an eye-opener for other gaming companies in further developing the Web3 network based on consumer adoption demands. In recent days, the Sandbox has been at the far front in terms of the metaverse adoption in the crypto world with an increased number of partnerships, not forgetting the recently announced collaboration with the K-Pop agency – Cube.
Sebastien Borget, COO and Co-founder of The Sandbox, further stated that the company is pleased to see mega-companies like HSBC joining the Sandbox open metaverse. He also mentioned that incorporating the idea of web3 will help the users in connecting through the entertainment platforms, gaming, and generation of the content.
HSBC has been reluctant to venture into the crypto world. However, the recent announcement has brought a sigh of relief since the banking communities blocked the UK residents from transacting funds from exchanges to their banking accounts last January.
The bank’s CEO – Noel Quinn, had made an official statement distancing HSBC from the cryptocurrency where he was quoted saying “not into bitcoin.”
Nonetheless, The Sandbox, a metaverse decentralised gaming virtual world, has fully adopted the digital space platform where the users will connect in the sporting arena and content generation and creation of real utility. The Sandbox’s vision will be to empower players in designing their own experience using various dimensions as the official announcement of the merging awaits the appropriate time.
