Newegg, an American online electronics shop, is one of the first companies to embrace Shiba Inu as a means of payment. This is not the first crypto in its portfolio, as it already accepts Bitcoin and dogecoin.
Newegg officially announced on November 29 that it would embrace SHIB as a holiday promotional campaign. It clarified on Twitter that it will officially start accepting the SHIB token from early December.
Newegg launched a Massive Ad Campaign for Shiba Inu. The company made the SHIB acceptance announcement on a massive digital out-of-home (DOOH) campaign displayed on The Reef, North America’s largest DOOH billboard. The DOOH billboard is big and one of the most impressive billboards in the world.
To make the payment option possible, the company partnered with Bitpay, a cryptocurrency payments platform. It is through the same path that it was able to integrate dogecoin into its payment system back in April 2021.
According to the brand marketing director, Andrew Choi, Newegg partnered with Bitpay to move quickly and be a leader in the market when it comes to cryptocurrency payments.
Newegg was one of the major online shopping stores to accept Bitcoin as a payment option back in 2014. Even though it started with the United States, they subsequently expanded the payment options to more than 70 countries.
There’s no doubt that crypto adoption for payment is growing in various industries. In November, American movie theatre company AMC officially announced that it accepts four major cryptocurrencies as a form of payment. These are Bitcoin, ether, bitcoin cash and Litecoin. AMC CEO Adam Aron revealed that it also plans to add Shiba Inu to its portfolio. This will make it the second store to accept SHIB after Newegg.
More stores worldwide are embracing crypto payments, and it is just a matter of time, and SHIB is accepted widely. There will also be more payment gateways for cryptos.
