John McAfee, who is a crypto enthusiast and entrepreneur, contradicted his previous prediction through a tweet citing that those who believed the absurd prediction should wake up. John McAfee had predicted in 2018 that the price of Bitcoin will reach $1M by the end of 2020 and if it does not, he will eat his dick on national television. In his recent tweet, he indicated that it was just humor and nothing like it can be achieved.
According to him, Bitcoin can only hit $1M if its market cap rises higher than the GDP of entire North America, which is not feasible in any way.
This was his tweet
If Bitcoin ever hit $1 mil, it’s market cap would be greater than the GDP of the entire North American Continent. What idiot could believe such nonsense? Whale Fucking is a thousand times more likely to make its way onto the Olympics Stage.”
There is a mixed response from his tweet, meaning people have different opinions on the price of Bitcoin. Some argue that bitcoin blockchain is not scalable and thus cannot support a large number of transactions. Some contradicted his tweet saying inflation may cause Bitcoin to even surpass $1Million.
The responses show that many people are still very positive about the price of bitcoin going up.
McAfee has been anti-bitcoin for a long time and his recent tweets couldn’t agree more. In his latest tweet, he described Bitcoin to be the most crippled crypto technology. Earlier in the year, he referred Bitcoin to an ancient tech. Turns out that his prediction of Bitcoin hitting $1 million was more of an attention-seeking strategy since many people are keen on Bitcoin.
McAfee has introduced Ghost, which is a privacy-focused cryptocurrency that he came up with. He believes that Ghost and another new cryptocurrency HEX will offer innovative solutions that have not been offered by Bitcoin.
According to a report done by Cointelegraph, McAfee’s Ghost project is a copy of PIVX, which is an open-source anonymity coin.
From John McAfee’s complicated lifestyle, it is really hard to take him seriously. In 2012, he fled from his home after being a suspect of a murder. He has also done a presidential campaign on a boat before. The ‘absurd humor’ as he claims was not taken kindly by many.
